"Complicity looks like saying nothing to 'keep the peace'; peace for who? Who does that peace best serve when your uncle or mother in law is summoned for jury duty?

The love and connection you've built with your family is relational currency. Let the years, and laughter, and trust of your relationships be the leverage to name when ideologies are unethical. Practice asking really good questions. Point to the system, share stories. Instead of attacking the person, challenge the thinking. You'll certainly have to have this conversation again- how do you leave room for part 2? Lead with your desire to create a better world for everyone. Take it slow, breathe deeply, acknowledge and validate, but don't you dare allow white supremacy, hetero patriarchy, harm and injustice to live on. Take stock of your privileges as you gather with friends and family. Unless you will be put in physical or psychological danger, your silence is complicity. And yeah, if you're wondering, I'm asking my well resourced, well educated, cis-het, white followers to *say* something at minimum, share your thinking at best.

A cozy life leaves room for rest and agency and contentment that so many don't have the privilege to indulge in.

"We just avoid talking about that stuff". Oh, really? Who is left in danger as you allow comments to slip by? Who is your peace for?"
