COMMUNITY UPDATE & CALL TO ACTION

Today, Sisters PGH and the survivor met with Edgewood Police Department to submit her formal written statement, which will now be included in the case file sent to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.

While Edgewood Police filed initial charges of Terroristic Threats and Ethnic Intimidation (Hate Crime), we’ve made clear that we believe this case meets the standard for Attempted Homicide. That decision now rests with the District Attorney’s Office, as the case moves forward.

This is the critical window for public advocacy.

We’re asking community members to respectfully contact the DA’s Office and advocate for this case to be treated with the full seriousness it deserves. Especially witnesses that were present at the Giant Eagle on July 16th 2025.

“Hello, I’m calling as a concerned community member regarding the case of Darryl Dunn, arrested after the attack at Edgewood Town Center. I respectfully urge the District Attorney’s Office to fully review this case and consider pursuing Attempted Homicide charges. The victim was chased and threatened with death while the attacker was armed with a knife. Black trans women deserve full justice. Thank you for your time.”

Sisters PGH and the survivor also sat down for a formal interview today with Gabriel DeLuca of WPXI, to continue raising awareness about what happened.

To our Black trans community: protect yourselves. Move in numbers. Watch each other’s backs. We shouldn’t have to say this—but in a city where violence against us is normalized, survival sometimes means showing up for one another in real ways. And as always: Black trans women protecting themselves should never be criminalized.

This is a fight for safety and justice. Please make your calls—daily, respectfully, consistently—until the District Attorney’s Office makes its next move.

We’ll continue to keep the community updated, including upcoming court dates where community presence will matter.
