Up next for our #SectionSpotlights, meet the Euphonium leadership!

Jackson Pierce is a senior studying mechanical engineering, with plans to pursue a career in the nuclear engineering field. He is serving his first year as section leader and a member of the leadership team. “The ideal leader must be in a constant pursuit of improvement, recognizing their own shortcomings and willing to accept the feedback of their peers. They must define a vision of excellence in both music and life, and inspire those who they lead to aspire to it.”

Sam Cole is a junior studying chemical engineering with the goal of applying this degree in the field of agricultural practices. This season, he is serving his first year as a euphonium rank leader. “One of the most important things I've learned is that listening and building relationships are just as important as making corrections and giving feedback.”

Jack Bird is a sophomore studying euphonium performance, with aspirations to perform in a military premier band before beginning a career as a high school band director. This season, he is serving his first year as rank leader. “The biggest quality of a great leader is positivity and energy. No matter how strong a leader, marcher, teacher, or player they are, if they do not emanate positive energy to members, then it doesn’t matter. Leading by example is a clear-cut top quality of being a great leader.”
