The Tucson Democrat easily won a Sept. 23 special election to succeed her late father, #RaúlGrijalva. However, Republican House Speaker #MikeJohnson has repeatedly delayed her swearing in, citing the ongoing government shutdown that began Oct. 1.

Johnson first said he’d seat Grijalva upon request but later changed his mind and said he’d only do it if Senate Democrats agreed to support a temporary bill to reopen the government.
