🎉🐾 Happy International Red Panda Day from your Birmingham Zoo! Today we’re celebrating our very own Gizmo & Kodo 🐼✨
Here are some wild facts about these “firefoxes”:
🔸 Nicknames galore: red panda, lesser panda, red-cat-bear… take your pick!
🔸 Size check: slightly bigger than a house cat, with tails up to 19 inches long.
🔸 Weight class: females average 6–10 lbs, males 10–14 lbs (Styani subspecies grow even bigger!).
🔸 Conservation spotlight:  there may be as few as 2,500 left in the wild.
🔸 Impact — these little ambassadors represent Himalayan forests that support nearly 10% of the world’s population. 🌍
