## Caption

We're heavy into tournament season in our home right now. We've just finished up a school season of volleyball and are now entering club season.

And of course, as an elite athlete, mindset coach and mom... I'm loving the lessons being learned... even when, as a parent, it can be tough to watch.

I watched my daughter grow by leaps and bounds during her school season.

At their national tournament, they were undefeated on the first day of pool play. Going into the gold medal bracket on day 2, they started by easily defeating the first team. But the second  team was a completely different story.

They were behind 19-24 in the first set against the second team, but they dug deep and earned the next 7 points in a row taking the win in the first set! It was very dramatic and everyone was overjoyed! (Swipe to watch the video!)

But all the excitement was quickly crushed as they lost both the next two sets, locking them out of the gold medal match.

There was exhaustion after a hard fight, disappointment, tears and the awful sting of defeat. Everyone felt it.

After getting the tears out and grieving the loss, they were able to regroup before the bronze medal match.

They walked into that match confident, determined and playing their game to the best of their ability. And the defeated, tear stained faces from just hours before, earned the bronze medal. And to be honest, it was one of the moments when bronze kinda feels like gold.🥉

No one likes to fail. It's not fun. It usually hurts either physical or emotionally... or sometimes both.

But... that is often when we learn our most valuable lessons.

You know, the lessons that will actually equip us to reach our biggest, loftiest goals.

Failure is not fun, but it is an opportunity to learn how to become better and how to actually succeed.
