Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, dedication, and sacrifice. Your service protects our freedom and inspires us all. Thank you, veterans—today and every day. ❤️🤍💙

Pictured is the late Lieutenant Colonel Ernest “Ernie” M. Kosa throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the sussexcountyminers game at skylandsstadium on May 25, 2016. 

Lt. Colonel Kosa was born in Somerville, New Jersey, and served as a chaplain in the usarmy for 20 years, including in Korea and Vietnam. After his military retirement, he moved to Sparta, New Jersey, and served for about 20 years as the Mental Health, Alcohol, and Drug Administrator for Sussex County. He was active in numerous local agencies and veteran support activities. In recognition of his long service, the County Building at the sussexcountyfairgrounds was renamed in his honor. Lt. Colonel Kosa passed away on July 31, 2018, at the age of 96. His life is remembered for faithful military service, deep community involvement, and caring leadership both in the armed forces and at home.
