🏔️ People think that glaciers will recover when it snows - but there is a point when they stop accumulating and recovering.

In some areas, we passed that point generations ago. This is largely due to summers bringing greater melt than winters can replenish.

In 2024, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela became the second country in the world to lose all its glaciers, and as these retreat, new landscapes and ecosystems emerge.

🎧 In the latest episode of the podcast "Youth Conversations: Beyond the Forecast", we speak with one of the last scientists to visit the Humboldt Glacier, Venezuela’s last glacier, before it disappeared.

Together, we explore this historic event, discussing how new ecosystems form in the wake of ice loss and why glaciers are vital to life on Earth.
