This is the spot when I pulled my car over after hearing lizziee.j interviewed on npr about her book chronicling the Camp Fire in Paradise November 2018, and her retelling the story of Kevin McKay and Mary Ludwig, a school bus driver and a school teacher who saved the lives of 22 children who needed to be evacuated. 

I called my partner  itsjasonblum blumhouse and told him I wanted to buy the book and tell that story in a film. For six terrifying hours, their journey became the basis for our film that is being released in theaters today, and is streaming on October 3 THE LOST BUS #thelostbus applefilms appletv  It is written by #bradingelsby and masterfully directed by  #paulgreengrass and stars Matthew McConaughey officiallymcconaughey and America Ferrara americaferrera and ashlie_atkinson yuluminati and many others and many calfire real team members.

EVERYONE in Paradise, California that day are heroes. They lost 85 people trying to evacuate their families from the inferno. It was a harrowing day that forever has change the lives of so many. The photograph of the little piece of fabric is what Mary still carries with her, which was a little piece of Kevin's shirt that they ripped up into small pieces to give the children something to breathe through on the bus. What they went through and what those children went through is really indescribable, and I thank both of them for their heroism, bravery, ingenuity, and intelligence and ability to care for those children in their moment of need. 
yesterday, as I was driving to a board meeting in Hollywood, I saw posters on both side sides of the street, announcing the release of our movie. A moment of reflection on all that happened from November 8, 2018, to August 21, 2021 when I heard about the book to the release today, September 19, 2025.

Our movie is a honoring to all of the people of PARADISE and I am very proud to be a small part of The Lost Bus on its release day.
