Danny Brown shared his perspective on hip-hop's recent absence from the Billboard Top 40 chart. "Hip-hop don't belong there anyway!" he tells Billboard. "The dopest sh*t was never on the charts, so that means that there's a lot of dope sh*t around. To me that sounds like a reset is happening, sounds like a cleansing." Brown highlights emerging artists like Skrilla as examples of creative hip-hop work happening outside the mainstream: "There's people doing cold sh*t everywhere, like somebody like Skrilla, what he's doing is fire." He further elaborates that he admires Skrilla's approach to discussing religion and humanizing addiction in his music. Danny Brown's new album 'Stardust' is out now. __ 📝 by Mackenzie Cummings-Grady via @billboard 📸 (slide 2,4) by @arielfish #pigeonsandplanes #dannybrown #hiphop #billboard #skrilla
