He announced on Truth Social that “a dividend of at least $2,000 a person (not including high-income people) will be paid to everyone,” adding that those who oppose the tariffs are “FOOLS!” It’s unclear how or when this would happen since the proposal would likely need approval from Congress.

Reports state that earlier this year, Sen #JoshHawley introduced a bill to give $600 tariff rebates to most Americans, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the administration’s main goal was to use tariff money to help pay down the national debt. _________________________________
Trump’s proposed “dividends” from tariff revenue arose over the health care subsidies debate that helped trigger the recent government shutdown — citing how federal funds should be used to directly offset household costs, such as the ACA subsidies Democrats defend to lower health insurance premiums. _________________________________
