On Nov. 11, 2025, veteran and notable CrossFit adaptive athlete mj_egan set a world record, covering 152.36 miles in 24 hours in a wheelchair.

His world record attempt was in support of VALORFIT, a nonprofit that supports veterans through a sustainable network of group fitness facilities and gyms, raising over $14,000 through the GoFundMe.

In 2012, Mike Egan became a bilateral amputee while serving in the Marine Corps, and through his passion of serving his community, he turned to CrossFit to help other adaptive athletes through fitness.

This world record was another way to serve his community.

“I came out here, not just to set a world record, but to make a statement,” Egan said in a video on Instagram. “That statement wasn’t to set a really high world record, it was to prove that your pain isn’t your story. It’s just a chapter, so turn the page.”
