No. 15 Vanderbilt kept its College Football Playoff hopes alive in dramatic fashion, rallying from a 10-point deficit to defeat Auburn 45–38 in overtime. Diego Pavia led the Commodores with a career-best performance, throwing for 377 yards and three touchdowns while adding 112 yards and a rushing score. After Auburn tied the game late in regulation, Pavia delivered the decisive 4-yard touchdown pass to Cole Spence in overtime, sealing an emotional win that pushed Vanderbilt to 8–2 on the season.

The Commodores’ offense was explosive all night, highlighted by Pavia’s dual-threat playmaking and the receiving tandem of Eli Stowers and Tre Richardson. Stowers caught 12 passes for 122 yards, while Richardson made the most of his touches with 124 yards on just three receptions. Sedrick Alexander added two rushing touchdowns, helping Vanderbilt keep pace in a back-and-forth shootout. The Commodores had a chance to win in regulation but were stopped on fourth-and-1 in Auburn territory, setting the stage for overtime where Pavia’s poise proved the difference.

Auburn, under interim coach DJ Durkin, nearly pulled off the upset in its first game since Hugh Freeze’s firing. Quarterback Ashton Daniels shone with 353 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 89 rushing yards with two more scores. He engineered a late rally, connecting with Cam Coleman for both the game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion with just over five minutes to play. The Tigers’ defense also delivered key stops, including the late fourth-down stand that forced overtime, but they couldn’t contain Pavia when it mattered most. Despite the loss, Auburn showed heart and resilience, pushing a top-15 team to the brink in a high-scoring SEC thriller.
