Meet Jonathon Janes, Kentucky State Chair💪

Jonathon’s been competing in powerlifting since 2016 and coaching youth and teen athletes in USAPL since 2021. That same year, he founded the nonprofit Better Through The Barbell, giving kids an alternative path to athletics through the sport he loves. 🏋️‍♂️

Driven by a passion for youth development and inclusivity, Jonathon stepped into the State Chair role to help provide consistent, affordable meet opportunities across Kentucky — especially for young lifters ready to shine on the platform.

“The best part is watching athletes show off all their hard work and seeing the confidence powerlifting builds,” Jonathon says. “The crowd cheers just as loud for a 50kg lift as a 300kg one — that’s what makes this sport so special.”
