We’re deep into the week-long Ponoka Stampede, and I’m having as much fun as ever at this incredible event. The weather has been perfect, and the competition has been an absolute thrill to watch. Every event here, with its short-go-round format, creates an exciting, easy-to-follow path to becoming a Ponoka Stampede Champion. Some standout moments so far: seeing my pal Dakota make a great bull ride on C5’s bucker Dance Monkey to put him in a good spot to come back Tuesday; watching Chanse Vigen break a track record that had stood for more than a decade; and witnessing the women show off in Breakaway Roping, tearing out the long score. But most of all, it’s being surrounded by creative, driven, and passionate people who keep morale high, spark new ideas, and make every day so enjoyable. And, of course, my circle checking in and riding this wild journey with me. Three down, four to go!
