The theme of the 45th Sundre Pro Rodeo was rain. It was wet, sloppy, soupy, sticky, muddy...there are so many ways to describe the conditions. But what it reminded me was the grit of both committee and competitor. Seeing the men and women of the Sundre Pro Rodeo’s committee pushing through absolutely mucky days, ensuring their well engineered arena was ready to host every event of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association competition was more than enough to continue slogging through the rainy weekend. Muddy rodeos are truly a photo opportunity not always presented to us in this game, but when they do, you have to take advantage. My equipment survived for the most part, and I am happy with what I was able to create.

Another massive thank you goes out to Shane Crouch, Scott Smith, the Sundre Rodeo & Race Association and the Crouch family for having me out again in 2025. Last year, I was wanted to ensure that I take nothing for granted with the fact that I make a living in a sport made up of volunteerism. This year, its realizing how much of a privilege it is to continue to work with events and committees such as this. Last year, they brought on the SMS Pro Tour designation and the heightened prize money that comes with it. This year, was a brand new, beautiful grandstand behind the chutes. Seeing events be able to reinvest in their infrastructure says a lot about the efforts of that committee, but also of the sport as a whole. Making events just a little bit better, be it prize money or infrastructure signals the sports overall growth. High tides raise all ships. No pun intended this weekend.
