Just announced ⭐ matowayuhi’s new album BYGONER drops Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025 under AWAL Records — and the rollout is pure art.

The Oglala Lakota artist, composer, and actor has become one of the most magnetic voices of his generation, from scoring Reservation Dogs to acting alongside Ethan Hawke and Kyle MacLachlan in FX’s The Lowdown.

Now, with #BYGONER, Mato steps into a new era that’s playful, cinematic, and heart-forward. The album finds frequency in healing, joy, and the messy sweetness of love. Or as he puts it: “It’s time to throw some ass — especially during Native American Heritage Month.” 

Featuring a stacked roster of collaborators (tiamiscihk , blackbelteaglescout, travisxthompson, rubywatersmusic and more), BYGONER celebrates the worlds that raised him and the kinship that continues to carry him.

The project’s alternate cover, painted by Sicangu & Oglala Lakota artist Kylie (Wantee) ThunderHawk (kylezwanatee), who is from the same tribe as Mato, captures that same spirit of love, community, and renewal. 🩵
