Former Northern Arizona University runner, Ali Upshaw, used her Navajo roots to guide and motivate her through her collegiate running career. Growing up on the Navajo Reservation, Upshaw was taught the value of running from a very young age and the value that pursuing higher education brings. From waking up early to run as the sun rises, to standing on top of the 2024 Big Sky podium, Ali's journey was rooted in her Navajo beliefs.
