👷‍♂️SLOSS FURNACES PLANNING MAJOR ADDITION: Bham’s beloved sloss_furnaces is planning a $12 million expansion, turning the National Historic Landmark into a fully fledged park. Get the details👇

👉Currently Sloss has 32 acres, much of which is open space
👉75,000 people visit each year for events
👉The expansion would preserve the open space while creating more park-like attractions

That includes concepts for many smaller projects,  including:
🪧Changing the main entrance
🚏Dividing the main road to make it more pedestrian friendly
🏃‍♂️1K trail 
🛝 Play area for young kids + “a bigger play area for big kids and adults”
✨ A maze in the footprint of old water reservoir
⛲️ Walking trail that goes through the spray pond
🏁 Bringing pedal cars to a pathway
👆Outdoor elevator to take visitors to the top of the furnace
 
👨‍💻 After working with design firms since January 2025, Sloss now has a detailed plan. 
 
💵 Their capital campaign will begin in 2026. They aim to secure all funding by the end of that year.
