President Donald Trump has claimed that grocery prices are down. That is objectively false. Prices are 2.7% higher than they were a year ago, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Wholesale turkey prices are up 40%, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 

But stores often take a loss on certain items to draw customers in the door.
