LIONS KNOCKOFF KNIGHTS: The jserrahoops Boys Basketball team made it back-to-back victories to start the season on Tuesday, as the Lions dispatched the Ontario Christian Knights 73-30 at the Rumble on the Hill Tournament (hosted by Sunny Hills High School) at Troy High School in Fullerton.

Sophomore Ryan Doane tallied 10 points (2-for-2 from behind the three point line) in the opening quarter, helping the Lions sprint out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter.

JSerra’s defense continued to stymie the Knights’ offense in the second period (eventually holding them to 5-for-23 shooting in the half), and with junior Earl Bryson scoring seven of his nine first half points in the quarter, JSerra surged to a 39-16 lead at halftime.

JSerra put the contest out of reach by outscoring Ontario Christian 24-4 in the third quarter.

Doane finished with his second straight double-double, scoring 18 points (on 8-for-10 shooting) and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Senior Julius Kristensen scored 11 points, while sophomore Micah Cunningham added 10 points.

JSerra held the Knights to 10-of-44 (23 percent) shooting in the game.
