Up next for our #SectionSpotlights, meet the Trombone leadership!

Makenzie Barber is a junior studying music education and trombone performance. She is serving her first season as section leader and member of the leadership team. “Being a leader in the MMB has taught me about teaching and how to work as a team. Keeping positive is contagious on the field.”

Omer Khan is a senior studying mechanical engineering with a minor in Spanish. He is serving his third season as rank leader and member of the leadership team. “Great leaders are always thinking about what to do for the success of the group. To make sure everyone knows their perspective is valued and heard.”
 
Samantha Megdanoff is a senior studying industrial and operations engineering. She is serving her first season as rank leader and a member of the leadership team. “Becoming a leader in the MMB has shown me that everyone is capable of growth. Leadership gave me the perspective to see my section grow.”

Jake Wiest is a senior studying astronomy, astrophysics, and interdisciplinary physics with a minor in philosophy. He is serving his first season as rank leader and a member of the leadership team. “Great leaders exude empathy, kindness, relatability, and authenticity. These traits help drive us to our collective goals.”

Alex Matthews is a senior studying communications and media, as well as French and Francophone studies. He is serving his first season as rank leader and second on the leadership team. “Being a leader in the MMB has taught me that leadership is a collaborative process, always changing and growing.”

Gabriel Walters is a junior studying biomedical engineering, with plans to pursue medical school. He is serving his first season as rank leader and a member of the leadership team. “The most important quality of a great leader is the dedication and passion you have for the people around you.”

Aditi Kamath is a sophomore studying aerospace engineering, math, and music. She is serving her first season as rank leader and a member of the leadership team. “A great leader is someone who isn't afraid to be themselves, and gives space for others to be themselves.”
