“Fix up back Jamaica!”

One motorist travelling along Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston captured several bucket trucks being transported on Thursday.

Just over a week ago, JPS President and CEO, Hugh Grant, said local equipment had been exhausted following Hurricane Melissa and that the company planned to import 60 bucket trucks, pole-digging units and other machinery by this weekend to speed up the restoration push.

Grant noted that recovery has been strong in the less-impacted parishes — Kingston & St Andrew, St Thomas and St Catherine, where 95% of customers have already had their power restored — while stressing that crews are making “steady progress every hour.”
