Lloyd Anderson and Mike McPherson, who travelled from the United States to witness the Reggae Boyz’ do-or-die match, said the team “came back 360 degrees” but struggled from the opening whistle because “we started behind the eight ball in a must-win situation.” Anderson explained that Curaçao forced Jamaica out of their rhythm — “Curacao force us to play their game” — and despite moments that lifted the crowd, including shots off the post and the reversed penalty call, he said “that’s part of soccer… it just never worked out in our favor.”

Both men urged Jamaicans to reflect, not retreat, saying every player “has to come out and say, this is the must-win situation… you get in the attacking third and make quality plays.” Looking ahead, McPherson said the country must revisit the structure and future of local football — “grassroots, youth players, male and female — we need to take a look at where we go from here.” Anderson closed with a note of belief: “Sometimes a setback is a setup for a comeback. Let’s revisit where we were and see where we can get to, because we are a nation that’s blessed.”
