Today we head to The Empire State for our Army ROTC #CadetOfTheWeek.

Meet Max Ryan, a senior majoring in International Relations at Syracuse University. 

Ryan joined #ArmyROTC to push himself physically and mentally while committing to something larger than himself. 

“The program has provided me with structure, discipline, and leadership opportunities that have fueled my growth every day. I also chose Syracuse because of its strong ROTC community, which genuinely invests in cadets’ success.”

Ryan is passionate about fitness, leadership, and teamwork. He co-founded Syracuse’s ROTC weightlifting club and served as Vice President of Health and Safety for the Theta Chi fraternity. Outside #ROTC, Ryan plays intramural soccer and never backs down from a physical challenge – competing in the Boston Tough Ruck, Norwegian Foot March, and Ranger Challenges. 

“These experiences have taught me the value of perseverance and the importance of teamwork. Most importantly, ROTC has given me a community that lifts each other, pushes one another to succeed, and celebrates growth together.”

His greatest motivation comes from the people around him. 

“Fellow cadets push me to give my best effort and hold myself accountable. At CST, I was fortunate to work alongside outstanding cadets I could always count on through challenges. Fitness is also a powerful motivator for me, it’s a way to set the standard, push personal limits, and help others reach theirs.”

After graduation, Ryan hopes to commission as an Infantry Officer and earn his Ranger Tab.
