House Update! So it’s been exactly a year since we had this done to the basement. It was actually the first huge investment we had made for the home. Everyone knows that a houses worst enemy is uncontrolled water. Since the house was sitting vacant for a bit, the moisture levels in the basement were so high! Luckily, we caught it in time before rot and mold could get to the floor. Thank goodness our stone foundation is so sturdy. Now the house no longer smells musty because of the new irrigation and a dehumidifier. Truth be told I’ve never had a basement before  because i’m from the southwest and they are rare in adobe homes. Now, every day as part of my morning routine, I go down to the basement and make sure that the ship is still running smoothly. Call me paranoid… I’m so glad it no longer looks like a kill shack though. 😂 Since then we also updated the electrical panels and removed all the knob and tube wiring. We’re first homeowners. When we first moved in a year ago, I thought that these changes were gonna be quick and we’d be able to fast forward to the fun stuff like wallpapering, tiling, and decorating. Well, we quickly learned that that was not the case. Everything takes so much time! I mean, as you saw from the last update, we are barely putting in a new bathroom which has taken over half a year to work on and it’s still not done! But anyway, we are very happy with the progress and it’s very exciting to wake up every day, make something better, and sometimes find some kind of an historical relic from the previous owners. It’s like an instant boost of confidence to keep going.
