I know what you’re going to say. “There’s nothing Victorian about that house!” But let me tell you, it’s under a disguise. A disguise of aluminum siding, drop ceiling panels, and linoleum flooring. A lot of things were done in the mid century and covered up all of the elaborate details that come with a house like this. Now there’s always is caution when removing these old materials. They often used Asbestos to make them. Luckily all of our tests came back negative. Day by day as we peel the layers back the house reveals its natural beauty to us. Under the layers of soot from the fireplace and from factories during the industrial revolution, It’s like the biggest Christmas present ever!!! As the demolition is coming to an end, I can’t tell you how excited I am to start creating, restoring, and reimagining this house. Going to antique shops is definitely keeping me sane during this messy business.
