BTS- A while ago, I was given the chance to create my own ice cream line with this brand. It was a powder that turned into ice cream when water was added to it. But this post isn’t really about the product… it’s about the process. All the magic you see on screen, It usually starts in a small, dark room with big ideas and a lot of planning. For every video, I come up with the concept, write the script, build a shot list, and source all the materials. Then my partner jumps in with lighting and filming. Then together we collaborate on set design. Which mostly involves me describing what’s in my head through a series of made up words and nonsense, but he does a great job of making sense of it. Then comes the creation of the subject, long nights of filming, and finally longer nights of editing. This is when I try to sculpt all the pieces into the video that you get to see. For this project, the video wasn’t the end, I had to come up with packaging and marketing too! I definitely did more than I needed too, but I was just building my brand and had to make sure that everything was as perfect as I could get it with the tight budget that was given to me. Now that I am a bit wiser, I won’t stretch myself that thin again but I did learn a lot! Even though this is technically my “job,” it never really feels like one. I’m just grateful to have the freedom to flex my creativity muscles daily. So when people ask me what I do for a living, I honestly never know how to answer. How do you say “EVERYTHING!” without sounding like a total narcissist? 😂
