They are between the ages of 16 & 17, part of a youth council of Black boys called the Seven Who Make it Happen.⁠
⁠
Their stories expose the harm caused by transferring children to adult court, and they remind us to remember: these are KIDS. Human beings. Children who deserve support, care, and a chance to grow.⁠

Transferring children to adult court forces them to grow up too fast, prioritizing punishment over the rehabilitation proven to work for their developing brains. When we treat kids like kids, we open the door to possibility, not prison.⁠

If we truly want to stop crime, we need to heal the conditions that cause it, not lock up the children for reacting and reflecting the harsh reality we refuse to see.⁠
