In Bangladesh, cyber-crime laws are slowly changing. But for some, the damage is done. 
 
#TrialWatch and centreforgovernancestudiesbd analyzed cases against nearly 400 journalists under the now-repealed Digital Security Act, illustrating the widespread harassment of journalists—both for political reasons and to settle personal scores. We conducted in-depth interviews with 30 who are still dealing with the consequences. 
 
Despite the law’s repeal, the new "Cyber Security Ordinance” still poses significant risks. It’s time for the interim government to protect journalists and press freedom through long-lasting reforms so that no one in Bangladesh is afraid to report the truth.
