Let's be real, Browns fans have seen it all. 

Since the franchise returned in 1999, every single new quarterback, from Tim Couch to Baker Mayfield, Dillon Gabriel, and everyone in between, has carried a cursed baton. 

That baton was the infamous 0-17 debut streak. 

Seventeen straight times, a guy got his first career regular-season start wearing the Brown and Orange, and seventeen times, he walked off the field with a loss.

But today, a kid changed everything.

Shedeur Sanders, the rookie who has probably been the most polarizing player of 2025, just walked in and busted that ugly, 26-year-old streak. 

His win against the Raiders makes him the first Browns QB since 1999 to win his first career regular-season start.

What makes this a real story is the wild path he took to get here. Forget the hype that surrounded many of the previous, highly-drafted guys who failed. Sanders was:

🔸Taken 144th overall in the 5th round, after falling way down the board.
🔸Listed as the team's QB4 on the preseason depth chart, behind two veterans and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.

He had a rough debut just a week ago, stepping in for an injured Gabriel, and he looked like a deer in headlights. 

But he weathered the storm, took the public criticism, and came out in his first start looking like a completely different player.

With the way the Browns defense is playing, the Browns might actually get competitive late in the season.
