In case you missed it, here's our sports roundup from last week, featuring football, basketball, volleyball and tennis. 

NCCU's football team has a two game winning streak after its defeat of the Howard Bisons and Norfolk State Spartans last week. The Eagles saw career-high performances from quarterback Walker Harris and a HBCU National Player of the Week honor to wide receiver Chauncey Spikes. 

The Lady Eagles opened their basketball season against the UNC Chapel Hill Tarheels, falling short with a 90-42 defeat. The team is 0-2 thus far with another loss against UNC Wilmington. 

The men's basketball team made their season debut Monday with a 114-66 loss to N.C. State. Guard Gage Lattimore and forward Khouri Carvey led the Eagles in scoring with 20 points and 19 points, respectively, while returning senior Dionte Johnson helped facilitate the offense with 5 assists. The team had a 43.8% field goal percentage, shooting 21-of-48 overall.

NCCU's women's volleyball picked up two MEAC victories against Morgan State and Coppin State last week. The team with have Senior Day at the McDougald-McLendon Arena against S.C. State on Nov. 5 at 3 p.m.

The N.C. Central men’s and women’s tennis teams had incredibly successful weekend matches on Nov. 1 and 2, combining for 20 victories against the Longwood Lancers, Hampton Pirates, and Christopher Newport Captains.

These matchups concluded the men’s team’s fall schedule as they now prepare for the spring season.
