Auburn Tigers 62, Mercer Bears 17 – Game Highlights (Nov. 22, 2025)

Freshman quarterback Deuce Knight delivered one of the most explosive first starts in Auburn history, accounting for six total touchdowns as the Tigers rolled past Mercer 62–17 at Jordan–Hare Stadium.

Knight was unstoppable from the opening snap — literally. On the game’s first play, the freshman worked through his reads, tucked the ball, and sprinted 75 yards down the right sideline for a stunning touchdown. That was only the beginning. Knight rushed for four touchdowns (75, 51, 9, and 20 yards) and added two passing scores, finishing 15-of-20 for 239 yards and rushing nine times for 162 yards. In all, he piled up 401 yards of total offense, showcasing elite speed, command, and big-play ability.

After Mercer (bound for the FCS Playoffs) punched back with two long touchdown drives to take a 14–7 lead, Auburn’s defense settled in and Knight took over. He scored three rushing TDs in the first half, hit Cam Coleman for a late touchdown before halftime, and then opened the second half with a pick-six from Elijah Melendez that blew the game open.

Knight later uncorked a 91-yard touchdown strike to Malcolm Simmons, Auburn’s longest play of the season, before Alex McPherson drilled field goals of 47 and 49 yards. Jackson Arnold capped the night with a 56-yard rushing TD — Auburn’s fifth touchdown run by a quarterback in the blowout.

Defensively, Robert Woodyard led Auburn with eight tackles, while Chris Murray delivered a strip sack and two sacks overall. Auburn forced three turnovers and allowed just three points after the first quarter.

With the win, Auburn improves to 5–6 (1–6 SEC) ahead of next week’s Iron Bowl showdown vs. No. 10 Alabama.
