No. 8 Oklahoma strengthened its College Football Playoff push with a 17–6 win over No. 22 Missouri, securing its third straight victory over a ranked opponent and improving to 9–2 (5–2 SEC) heading into a pivotal showdown with LSU next week.

Quarterback John Mateer delivered timely plays throughout — throwing for 173 yards and two touchdowns and adding 60 rushing yards, including 44 in the fourth quarter as the Sooners closed out the game. His 87-yard touchdown strike to Isaiah Sategna in the first quarter flipped momentum after a blocked Missouri field goal. Sategna finished with 109 receiving yards on just three catches.

Oklahoma’s defense was dominant, shutting out Missouri in the second half and holding star running back Ahmad Hardy — the nation’s leading rusher — to just 57 yards on 17 carries. The Sooners forced two interceptions, recorded four sacks, and limited the Tigers to 70 rushing yards and 301 total yards. Taylor Wein led the defensive effort with 1.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, a hurry, and a forced fumble.

Missouri (7–4, 3–4 SEC) got 231 passing yards from returning quarterback Beau Pribula and a 115-yard receiving performance by Kevin Coleman Jr., but couldn’t find the end zone after halftime.

The victory gives Oklahoma five wins over ranked teams this season — keeping the Sooners firmly in the CFP conversation.
