Marissa Bode has opened up about changing her character Nessarose's storyline in 'Wicked: For Good' to be 'less harmful for disabled people'.

In the stage musical, Elphaba uses her powers to make Nessarose walk, a storyline which was changed for the movie adaptation. Instead, Elphaba uses her powers to make Nessarose float in her wheelchair.

Speaking to Them about the change, Bode said: "I am really happy with the change. I think it helps her story feel a little more complete, and really brings out the nuances and complexities of her character overall."

She continued: "Again, it’s more than just, "I want to be healed. I want to be fixed." Of course, all disabilities are different. There are some disabled people who may want to be healed, but that’s not all of our story."
