🎶 Women’s History Month Spotlight: Monique Pyle – A Force for Music, Culture & Community 🎶

March is Women’s History Month, and all month long, the New Orleans Jazz Museum is celebrating the incredible women who preserve, uplift, and innovate within the world of music and culture. Today, we spotlight Monique Pyle, a dynamic leader whose passion for community, music, and service has made a lasting impact on New Orleans.

Originally from Queens, NY, Monique’s journey has been anything but conventional. Inspired by the events of 9/11, she pursued a degree in Forensic Science Criminalistics at John Jay School of Criminal Justice, gaining a deep analytical approach to problem-solving. While her career took unexpected turns—managing denim production at Ralph Lauren and leading in the worlds of entertainment and fine dining—her heart always sought connection, service, and cultural preservation.

After over a decade of visits to New Orleans, Monique made the city her permanent home in 2012. Soon after, Hurricane Sandy devastated the East Coast, and she was called to action. Her NO for NY benefit, a relief effort for Sandy survivors, bridged her love for music, culture, and service, ultimately forging her path with Positive Vibrations Foundation—a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and developing arts, music, culture, and heritage in New Orleans.

As Executive Director of Positive Vibrations Foundation, Monique has championed funding opportunities for transformative programs, including:
🎵 Louis Armstrong Camp
🎵 Lusher School Summer Music Camp
🎵 New Orleans Jazz Museum Balcony Concerts
🎵 Congo Square Preservation Society
🎵 Bayou Boogaloo
🎵 Guardians of the Flame Maroon Society
🎵 Funk Festival and many more.

Beyond funding, Monique has documented the wisdom of New Orleans musicians, creating a cultural library for future artists to draw inspiration from. Her vision is simple yet powerful: “The future relies on the wisdom of the past, and every bridge we can build from our youth to our elders is vital to preserving our arts, music, and culture.”
