Texas controlled the first half of the match, taking the opening two sets 25–19 and 28–26 while holding Kentucky in check offensively. But the Wildcats refused to fold. Facing three Texas championship points in the third set, Kentucky stormed back with a 6–1 closing run to steal the frame 26–24 and flip the momentum inside Enmarket Arena. From there, Kentucky took command. The Wildcats never trailed in the fourth set, riding a fast start and steady sideout game to even the match with a 25–22 win. In the decisive fifth, UK erased an early Texas lead and finished on a dominant 6–0 run, capped by SEC Player of the Year Eva Hudson’s 25th kill of the night to seal the championship. Hudson paced Kentucky (projected No. 2 overall seed entering the night) with 25 kills, 11 digs, and a .300 hitting percentage. Lizzie Carr and Brooklyn DeLeye added 13 kills each, while Asia Thigpen hit .500 with 10 kills and four blocks. Setter Kassie O’Brien tallied a career-high 56 assists, guiding the Wildcats to a .277 team hitting mark. Texas (23–3) hit .357 in the third set but couldn’t close the door, suffering its second loss to Kentucky in two weeks. The match delivered in every way as the SEC Tournament returned to the court for the first time since 2005. With the victory, Kentucky clinches the SEC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins next week.
