The grand blue hen mare, PUCA 😍 The dam of GI Kentucky Derby winner Mage, GI Belmont Stakes and GI Haskell Stakes winner Dornoch, and GI Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza sold for $5 million at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale back in early November.

It marked the first time in 17 years that a reigning Broodmare of the Year had been offered at public auction, and she didn’t disappoint.

Consigned by ELiTE, agent, the grand mare was purchased by the Raging Torrent Syndicate and will remain stateside, with new connections saying part of the plan with Puca is to have her support sires Raging Torrent and Carl Spackler. Both will stand at Lane’s End Farm, new for 2026.

The 13-year-old mare has produced a colt and filly by Good Magic in the last two years, full-siblings to her two Classic winners, but was sold not in foal by Resolute Bloodstock. 

We’re looking forward to seeing how Puca’s legacy continues in the year to come! 🌟 Mage now stands at Airdrie Stud, while Dornoch stands at Spendthrift Farm, and Baeza will continue racing as a 4-year-old next year.
