“To #BeABluejay means to pursue excellence in anything you do and to give back to others.”

A senior in Creighton’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program, Broc Evitch is inspired by the dramatic style of Caravaggio. He studies oil painting—and even sketches real surgeries to capture the precision of the human body in motion. He’s also a competitive powerlifter. This past summer, he took home first place at the International Powerlifting Federation World Championships in Norway. 🏆

Now, he’s sharing his strength with the next generation as part of the staff for the Creighton Prep Junior Jays Powerlifting Team. His undergraduate research at Creighton explores the growing diversity within the sport—and he hopes to one day unite his passions for art and athletics as a high school teacher and coach.

“It was always a dream to come here, and this is where I felt at home from the start with how welcoming the faculty and staff were,” he says. “Creighton is a supportive community, that’s there to guide you to a professional career. It surprised me how many resources Creighton offers on campus for students to grow and learn.”
