Richard Hammond’s long history of on-screen mishaps continued on The Grand Tour with more than one dramatic, humiliating boating failure.

In the Lochdown special in Scotland, his attempt to tow a large platform for Jeremy Clarkson resulted in his small fishing boat sinking instantly after he misjudged the tow rope tension.

Earlier, during the Seamen special across Vietnam and Cambodia, Hammond’s powerful Scarab speedboat also suffered a near-disaster when it began rapidly taking on water by the stern on a crocodile-infested lake.

Both incidents underscored the constant danger that seems to follow the presenter whenever he is tasked with an ambitious transport challenge.
