Stop and smell the... corpse flower? Soon you can, as we’re eagerly anticipating Lupin’s third bloom sometime this month (and yes, it’s named after a Harry Potter character). 

Known for the pungent odor it produces, the corpse flower has one of the largest flowering structures in the plant kingdom and heats up to human body temperature as it blooms. 🤯 

It took 13 years for the corpse flower living on our campus, owned by horticultural scientist Brandon Huber (@bhubzz), to bloom for the first time. Subsequent blooms occur every three to seven years. When it bloomed in 2016 and 2019 (seen here), the plant grew to be more than 6 feet tall.
