#DerekChauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of second-degree murder in #GeorgeFloyd’s death, has filed an appeal seeking a new trial.

Chauvin submitted the request last month in Hennepin County District Court, foxnews reports. In the filing, he argues his conviction should be thrown out, claiming flawed medical testimony, misrepresented police training, and improper jury instructions. He disputes testimony from four physicians who reviewed the medical examiner’s report, saying they relied too heavily on video footage rather than accepted scientific methods. Chauvin says he has experts who will testify that their methodology is not widely accepted.

He also challenges testimony from three Minneapolis police supervisors who said using a knee on a suspect’s neck was not part of department policy. The filing includes statements from 34 current and former officers claiming the tactic was part of their training.

Chauvin further says the court violated his right to due process.
