With a stench described as "rotting flesh" and "trash left out in the rain," the corpse flower is a plant unlike any you've encountered before. Corpse flowers have one of the largest flowering structures in the plant kingdom, and they heat up to human body temperature as they bloom.

Horticultural grad student Brandon Huber owns Lupin, the corpse flower living in an @ncstatecals greenhouse. It took 13 years for Lupin — named after a Harry Potter character — to bloom the first time. Subsequent blooms like the one on display now occur every three to seven years.
