You never know what once-in-a-lifetime moments you’ll find at #SXSW, and almost nobody knows this better than our Photography Director Jamie Miller. Swipe through to see some of her fav SX moments from her 20+ year tenure. 👉

🎤 Picture this: it’s 1994, you’re at the original @emosaustin on the corner of Red River and 6th St, and @johnnycash is opening for @beck. Jamie says: “Many years later, I saw Beck… He had said that he was so nervous and his performance was a disaster.”

🎸 This standing-room-only Music Conference session from SXSW 1992 shows how much the festival has grown. Jamie loves the over-the-top chandeliers and ‘90s hairdos.

🎬 One star-studded Film Conference session in 1997 had @rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Richard Linklater, @thatkevinsmith, @realmikejudge, Steven Soderbergh, and George Huang all on one panel. Imagine trying to put that session together today!

🐦 Twitter founders Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams plus Head of Product Jason Goldman accept the SXSW Web Awards prize in 2007. Dorsey’s acceptance speech: “I would like to thank everyone in 140 character or less… and I just did.”

🇺🇸 Rolling up in “The Beast” to the @longcenter, President @barackobama’s high-profile Keynote Session kicked off SXSW 2016. Days later, First Lady @michelleobama arrived to promote her “Let Girls Learn” initiative.

🐉 The meeting of House Stark and House Biden at SXSW 2017 was completely unplanned — their sessions happened to be next door to each other, so they met up for a pre-session photo during a moment of SX serendipity.

🖥️ SXSW Online 2021 gave Jamie the chance to finally attend SXSW sessions in between pulling screen grabs from live streams. She particularly enjoyed @clppng’s @npr Tiny Desk virtual stream.

🪨👀🌭The triumphant return of SXSW 2022 not only signaled a return to in-person joy, but also gave us the Oscar-winning film Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. Here, we see @everythingeverywheremovie directors @dunkwun and Daniel Scheinert and cast rejoicing after their SXSW World Premiere.
