Last week, Korea was shaken by a major controversy involving actor Cho Jin-woong.

It was revealed that he had been involved in serious crimes — including car theft and sexual assault — during his high school years and received juvenile protective custody. 

Following the reports, Cho Jin-woong announced through his agency that he would “humbly accept all criticism, halt all activities, and bring his acting career to an end.”

The news not only shocked the public but also sent ripples through the drama fandom, especially among fans of Signal, one of Korea’s most beloved series. 

Cho Jin-woong plays a main character in the long-awaited sequel “The Second Signal,” and viewers had been eagerly anticipating the show’s return a full 10 years after the first season.

“The Second Signal,” reportedly already fully filmed and aiming for a June 2026 release, now faces a highly uncertain future. With Cho Jin-woong at the center of the narrative, recasting or re-editing the entire series seems extremely difficult.

Given the current public sentiment in Korea, it appears unlikely that Signal’s second season will be released as originally planned.
