With the Milano-Cortina Games coming up, the brand-new Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena is still under construction, and now a Team Canada coach says the ice isn’t even the right size. Yes… really.⁣ 😮⁣

A December test event already had to move venues, and the arena’s first true trial isn’t until January 9–11, leaving almost no time to test the ice, locker rooms, broadcast setups, concessions, bathrooms — the whole arena.⁣ 🏟️⁣
⁣⁣
Coach Peter DeBoer says the rink looks 3–4 feet smaller than NHL standards, despite the Games agreeing to use NHL-sized ice. A too-small sheet raises real gameplay and safety concerns, and players are understandably rattled.⁣ 😳⁣

Making it worse: organizers have confirmed there is no Plan B. If Santagiulia isn’t ready, there’s nowhere else to play.⁣ ❌⁣

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly has already warned that “if there’s no rink completed, there’s no NHL players going to the Olympics,” which would make this the third straight Games without NHL stars.⁣ 🤯⁣
