Platoon leader. RA. Rural peer ambassador. Andrew, a member of #WashU25 double majoring in global studies and political science, has worn many hats — and uniforms — during his time at WashU.

From mentoring around 40 cadets in the Gateway Army ROTC Battalion to supporting first-year students, Andrew has led with care and authenticity.

Raised in Monticello, Illinois, Andrew brought his rural roots to campus—and made sure others like him felt seen. “Being a rural student is core to who I am. I’ve worked hard to share that story, mentor others, and help folks understand that rural doesn’t mean less—it just means different.”

After graduation, Andrew will complete officer training and begin law school at WashU, where he plans to study international law.
