2025 DEKA FIT World Championship
Friday, December 5th, 2025 (Day 1 of 3)

1. DEKA FIT Ruck - 39:02 - 2nd Overall 🥈

I am still yet to figure out why I like racing with the 30lb backpack on but it seems to be working alright for me. Spent the entire race chasing joe_rucco who took us out at a 4:49 pace, woof. Hung on until the ski but the gap widened beyond closure. By that point I had built up a 90 second lead on third and put the rest of the race in (uncomfortable) cruise control. Ended up finish exactly where I anticipated, second, behind Joe.

I wrote in my notes days prior "I want to stand on the podium with Joe for Ruck. Whether that’s 1-2 or 2-1, I don’t care." Not to say I went in to this race not trying to win. I went for it out of the gate. The phenomenon that is Joe Rucco is one hard dude to beat. Joe, congratulations. You continue to amaze me and I cherish each time we can line it up as competitors or together. Which leads me to...

2. DEKA FIT Elite Male Teams - 26:23 (15s PR) - 4th Overall

We ran out of our shoes. We stuck our nose in a head-to-head battle with the Walkingtons (walkington.j.cole & jon.walkington). Chipping away on the stations, maintaining strong runs (16:01 total run). We worked our asses off. Found the pain cave early and made ourselves right at home.

Then, we were battling off a late race surge from bubblestheclowne & spartanstamina. We knew this was coming. We narrowly edged them out on the Tank and Run 10. Got in to the burpees with just enough time to put the RAM down. We got beat by 1 rep, again. This one f*cking hurt really bad. I was overcome with emotion after this race. Gut wrenching to work that hard and come up seconds short of the podium. Eight seconds separated 2nd-4th. We did everything we could.

Looking back on this race, I am damn proud of us. We battled to the bitter end, executed our race to near perfection, and left nothing in the tank. Not much more you can ask from a debut Worlds performance and second FIT together. We'll be back to take another shot.

On to day two.
