As a woman in a male dominated field, breaking barriers and building futures has always been the goal I set for myself, and that’s the goal I have fulfilled! On Saturday December 13, 2025, I, Jayla J.D. Lane, will be receiving a Bachelor of Science in Architecture AND a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science. Yes, your girl is trained in both designing the dream and building it into reality. But none of this would be possible without God, my mom and Poppi,the administors, faculty, organizations, and the friends and mentors who have supported me along the way. Inspired by watching my mom and Poppi leave their mark in the construction industry, and strengthened through the ACI Program by friends and faculty who became my rock, this journey has come full circle as I now help guide the classes behind me toward their dreams. Through the tireless nights, the stressful days, the tear-filled critiques, the muddy surveying days, the long presentations, the amazing internships and the final exams and posters; I found my home. My place of growth. My sanctuary for 4.5 years. This journey built my discipline, sharpened my purpose, and strengthened my drive to always rise higher. With all my love, admiration, and gratitude, I thank my SOA family! Today I stand before you as Project Engineer, ready to take the world of construction by storm.
