The 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers Fan of the Year goes to... Hayden and Canine Companions #servicedog Abby! 🏈 

Hayden and Abby experienced the surprise of a lifetime, as they exited the tunnel at the Acrisure Stadium: they saw “Congrats Hayden! 2025 Fan of the Year” illuminated on the jumbotron.

Hayden, who's deaf due to Goldenhar Syndrome and primarily communicates via American Sign Language (ASL), was greeted by Steelers Center frazier54, who knows ASL because several family members are deaf or hard of hearing.

"I am still shocked by this entire experience,” Hayden says. “It was the best birthday weekend ever!”

A devoted #Steelers fan from Virginia, Hayden became a fan after his father from Indiana, Pennsylvania, introduced him to the team when he was young. Since then, along with his father and five siblings, he's been a fan of the black and gold – even covering up the walls of his childhood bedroom with Steelers memorabilia.

His journey with Abby started when they graduated together as a hearing dog team from our Southeast Training Center in Orlando, Florida. 

Whether he’s commuting on the metro, dining out with his wife, watching the Steelers play, or traveling across the country to compete in the Transplant Games of America as a kidney transplant survivor, Abby keeps him connected to the world around him. 🐕‍🦺

“Having a hearing dog makes a profound difference in my life,” Hayden shares. “Abby helps me notice the world around me. She gives me a level of independence I didn’t even realize I was missing.” 💙
